After twenty years dedicated to Education, Mercedes Y. Centeno, moved to San Antonio Texas, with the hope to start a training school and dedicate herself to teach others her knowledge and skills acquired through her experience as an educator. She wanted to help others to find new paths to find growth and inspiration. The journey in Texas was itself a new beginning, moving from the Washington DC Area to San Antonio. I needed a lot of adjustments, and things were not as predictable. As soon as the classes started, it was rewarding to see how students were trying very hard to give more sense to their lives and find new hopes to face the challenges of modern times. Since 2011 Education and Hope has provided the CDA training, and six cohorts of students have graduated. Most of them are currently working as lead teachers in different settings such as child care centers, private preschool programs, or assistant teachers in Head Start. The classes have been provided at The San Antonio Central Library, preschool programs locations, or at the office of Education and Hope.
“Our students have souls that have had numerous changes and difficulties, most of them have known pain, struggle and they are trying to find new paths that will bring them back hope and stability in their lives. I went thru the same, and I feel myself identifing with them”. Mercedes Yamileth Centeno
